FAQ
Have questions? We have the answers! Below you’ll find the answers to several of our most frequently asked questions. However, if you still need more information, we encourage you to read our student handbook (link below). You are also welcome to contact us anytime during office hours.
What is the dress code for Taylor Intermediate?
We expect our students to dress in a way that shows respect for themselves, for others, and for their school. Students may not wear any clothing that distracts from the learning experience. Specifically, we do not allow:
Shorts that are shorter than mid-thigh
Any tight or Spandex-type shorts (unless worn under other acceptable clothing which must be mid-thigh or longer)
Clothing with slits, holes, tears, and/or unfinished edges
Pajama bottoms or lounge pants (unless it is worn as part of a school-spirit day)
Swimsuits
Tank tops worn alone
Skirts that are shorter than mid-thigh
Hats in the hallways, restrooms, classrooms, cafeteria, auditorium, or office areas
Underwear (e.g. long johns or boxer shorts) that extend below or beyond the outer clothing
We reserve the right to determine whether a student’s clothing is appropriate for school. For more details regarding our dress code, please review the student handbook.
What will happen if my child becomes ill or injured while at school?
If a student becomes ill or injured at school, we will attempt to notify a parent or guardian promptly, and we will care for the student in our health tech office until a parent or guardian arrives. Students may not leave school grounds without either a parent or another approved adult (as listed on the student’s information form). If the situation is a medical emergency, we will follow standard emergency procedures.
How will my child’s teacher communicate with me?
Taylor Intermediate schedules two parent-teacher conferences during the school year to discuss student achievement and progress. Our annual Back-to-School Night is also a great place to meet your child’s teacher and receive classroom-specific information and expectations. Throughout the year, our teachers will send letters/notices home with your child to help keep you up to date with everything that is happening at Taylor. Of course, you are always welcome to plan additional conferences with your child’s teacher or the principal at your discretion. If you would like to meet with either, please contact the front office to make an appointment.
How are my child’s grades monitored?
We issue report cards quarterly, at the end of each grading period. Parents are welcome to check into Infinite Campus as often as they like to check on assignment scores and grades.
Taylor Intermediate School uses a Standards Based Grading System which measures how well students understand and master the essential standards that are being taught in each subject.
Standard Scale
4 = Highly Proficient
3 = Proficient
2 = Partially Proficient
1 = Minimally Proficient
I/E = Insufficient Evidence
0 = Zero Evidence/Zero Effort/Not Attempted
N/A = Not Assessed/Not Applicable
Can I visit my child at school?
We would love to have you join us at school. To ensure every child’s safety, please check in at the front office first. We also ask that visitors be aware of our lunch times/prices if they wish to join us during the lunch hour and contact us prior to your visit so we can plan accordingly. Unfortunately, we cannot allow visiting friends or relatives of our students to spend the day in the classrooms with them.
