Snowflake is a town of approximately 5,000 residents in Navajo County, Arizona. It was founded in 1878 by Erastus Snow and William Jordan Flake, Mormon pioneers and colonizers. We experience the four seasons of the year with a warm to hot summer, a mild autumn, a mild to cold winter, and a cool, windy spring.

Local Attractions
Adventure waits to the north just a day-trip away in the majestic views of the Navajo Nation's famous Monument Valley, the world-renowned Petrified Forest National Park, and historic Route 66. To the south, the scenic White Mountains of Arizona are home to the largest stand of Ponderosa Pine in the world. A short half-hour drive, you'll find a variety of outdoor recreational activities including hunting, fishing, hiking, snow skiing, as well as fine dining.

  • Fishing – Several state fishing records have been set in the fisherman's paradise of The White Mountains. Our pristine freshwater lakes and streams are the home to an abundance of rainbow, brown, and brook trout.

  • Historic Route 66 – "Get your kicks on Route 66." In the nearby communities of Holbrook and Winslow (just minutes north of Snowflake), you'll find an original section of Route 66—complete with a variety of retro motels, trading posts, cafes, an old jail, and petrified wood shops as well as artifacts and antique shops. Arizona has the longest continuous stretch of Route 66 in the country, and people flock from points all around the world to recapture the legend of this famous highway.

  • Meteor Crater – Meteor Crater is the amazing result of a collision between a piece of an asteroid traveling at 26,000 miles per hour and planet Earth approximately 50,000 years ago.

  • Petrified Forest National Park – Enjoy overnight backpacking, hiking trails, and scenic picnic areas. The park is open year-round and is just waiting for you to come enjoy the Petrified Forest and nearby Painted Desert.

  • Sunrise Ski Park – In the heart of the White Mountains, Sunrise Park offers a wide range of fun and excitement. In winter, its three mountains and 65 runs offer some of the finest skiing and snowboarding in the western United States for any level. You'll also enjoy cross country ski trails and a sledding area.
